Dance to Your Own Music

by Carol Hansen Grey

I found this delightful graphic by Karen Salmansohn on her Positively Positive website and thought it would be a good topic to explore.

It made me think about how each of us choose to spend our daily 24 hour allotment.

  • Do we spend time meeting expectations of others instead of meeting our own needs and goals?

  • Do we try to be someone we’re not just because we perceive that’s what is expected of us by our friends and family?

I’ve been there! I know what it’s like to try to be someone else’s vision of who I am. It’s uncomfortable and truly unsustainable. It’s much more satisfying to go deep within to discover your true essence, to identify your authentic self and let it shine in the world!

It all begins with learning to love yourself. If you don’t love yourself, you can’t honor the authentic you. You are ashamed to let the authentic YOU shine in the world. As a result you start dancing to the music of others.

I encourage you to start the journey of self love. My Lighten Up CD explains an easy 5 minute a day process that will bring you into a state of unconditional love of yourself. When you reach that state, you will learn to show up as your authentic self and celebrate as you dance to your own music.
